Paying It Forward intervenes in public pay platforms with poetry that comments on or critiques capitalism.
This is a collective activity and it requires participants! You can get involved by submitting poems or quotes about capitalism and/or by sharing poems in the message area of your public payments.
Accepted submissions include original poetry and cited quotes from philosophers and activists who articulate the dehumanizing effects of capitalism such as Emma Goldman, Antonio Gramsci, Karl Marx, Naomi Klein, and others. Chapbooks that include collected poems will be printed in spring 2023 and published on the LabSynthE Free Press.
Here's a submission example that weighs in at 132 characters including spaces:
"Greek philosophy seems to have met with something with which a good tragedy is not supposed to meet, namely, a dull ending (Marx)."
•. The primary limitation is the character count.
• You can submit the same (or slightly edited) poem or quote in all submission fields
•. If you are submitting original poetry and you would like to be cited, include your name (see the Marx example).
• If you are submitting a quote, please include attribution/citation (see the Marx example).
I am collecting email addresses so that I can send you news about this project as it develops and/or share a chapbook with you when they are printed in spring 2023. I promise not to share your email address (that would be contrary to the spirit of the project).
