1:00PM-3:30PM
Location: Alpena Community College (665 Johnson St., Alpena, MI 49707)
Join us for a community celebration and hands-on volunteer event in support of the Alpena Area Lake Huron Forever Pledge! We invite community members to learn more about the pledge and actively contribute to the pledge goals by helping control invasive species through on-the-ground volunteer projects.
The event will begin at 1:00pm at Alpena Community College, room CTR 106, with a short presentation about the pledge and its role in an international effort to preserve and enhance the local environment. Following the introduction, participants will have the opportunity to take part in two volunteer projects on site which directly support pledge goals:
Plant native trees on the ACC campus to provide shade, wildlife habitat and help filter stormwater and snowmelt
Remove invasive plants and shrubs along the nature trail at Jesse Besser Museum
Participants who want to volunteer should wear comfortable outdoor attire and sturdy shoes, and bring work gloves and a refillable water bottle. This is a rain-or-shine event.
To RSVP, please fill out the information below. We have included a very short survey. Your answers help us to better understand how to develop valuable programs and continually improve or work.
