On Thursday, April 12, 2018, the NYUSPS Urban Lab at the Schack Institute of Real Estate will host The University and the City, a series of panel discussions on the university’s role in urban redevelopment. The first panel will convene three academic experts—Duke Reiter of Arizona State University, Richard Florida of NYU, and Jeremy Novak of Drexel University—to brainstorm effective partnerships between universities, city governments, and the private sector. The second panel will feature policy experts from Democracy Collaborative, U3 Advisors, and the University of Toronto, who will discuss strategies for engaging universities in solutions to poverty, unemployment, and inequality.
