We understand that the band director may assign our student to play an instrument that is most suited for them based on a fitting process that will begin AFTER the first day of school. This MAY be a different instrument than the student currently wants to play.

For students interested in percussion: We understand that participation in the percussion section is limited and that already having some private lessons on percussion does not guarantee admission to the percussion section. We understand that Mr. Ruggieri will make a final decision on placement, AFTER the first few weeks of school. We understand that we should have a back up plan should percussion not be an option.

We understand that, while the Boardman Local Schools, and the Boardman Band do everything we can to provide access to all beginning band students, there are financial obligations connected to participation in band. Namely, instrument rental, book purchase, and depending on the instrument; reeds, mouthpieces, valve oil, mallets, and cleaning kits.
