“The Latin American and Caribbean Consortium of Engineering Institutions, LACCEI” , is a non-profit organization consisting of institutions that offer academic programs in Engineering and Technology with the goal of collaborating with other LACCEI partners.
In 2004, the OAS, at its first meeting of Ministers and High Authorities in Science and Technology in Lima-Peru adopted the initiative "Engineering for the Americas (EftA)" with the purpose of promoting economic and social development through quality engineering education and innovation in its member countries. Then, in 2005, in Rio de Janeiro, the OAS (Organization of American States) selected LACCEI as part of the initiative EftA and after 11 years, in 2016 (San Jose - Costa Rica), the OAS officially hosted the I OAS Engineering Summit for the Americas, parallel to the LACCEI International Multiconference and named LACCEI the "Engineering Center of Excellence for the Americas", an important credential that allows it to strengthen the quality of education in Engineering, Academic Leadership, and Student Competencies, in addition to connecting Latin America with the world. Today, LACCEI has more than 250 member institutions from three continents and 26 countries.
The mission of LACCEI is to facilitate and promote global collaboration in the advancement and continuous improvement of engineering and technology education, practice, research, and innovation linking Latin America and the Caribbean to the rest of the world.
A LACCEI Collaborator is a person trained in various areas of Engineering who wishes to provide their services on an eventual, voluntary basis and without financial remuneration to help in LACCEI initiatives and/or committees.
