Students wishing to enter the Nursing Program at Lamar CC for Fall 2025 must pass the Entrance exam as well as have all the pre-requisite courses completed by August 15, 2025 with official transcripts sent to the Registrar for review and transfer. The courses must be completed with a C or higher, and the cumulative GPA on those pre-requisite courses only must be 2.5 or higher. Admission into the program is competitive and preference will be given to those with GPAs of 2.75 or higher on the pre-requisites, especially when the BIO courses have B or A grades entered.

Various study guides are available for the exam, available from online retailers like Amazon. The one by the exam company (Kaplan) in the most recent edition, is likely to provide the best preparation experience for students, although LCC and its employees do not make a recommendation for a specific test prep program.

A "yes" response indicates you understand and agree to the following:
1. Kaplan policy allows for only 1 test per registration. LCC permits a repeat test, but the student must sign up again from the Kaplan website in the "repeat" cohort using the same username and password. Repeat attempts should be scheduled with at least 14 days between attempts.

2. Students must present a photo ID at testing to ensure the testing student is the same as the applicant for the program.

3. Students should arrive to the testing location 10 minutes prior to the test start time listed in the question above. The test begins at the time listed and late entries will not be permitted.

4. No electronic devices will be permitted into the testing center. This includes cell phones, ear buds, smart watches, etc.

5. Students will be provided with calculator, scratch paper, and a writing utensil at the testing time.

Those responding "no" will not be scheduled for testing.
