Business Owners of Maine Support the Pine Tree Amendment
LD 489 Language: The people of the State have the right to a clean and healthy environment and to the preservation of the natural, cultural and healthful qualities of the environment. The State may not infringe upon these rights. The State shall conserve, protect and maintain the State’s natural resources, including, but not limited to, its air, water, land and ecosystems for the benefit of all the people, including generations yet to come.
Dear Representatives of the Maine State Legislature,
As large and small business owners in Maine, we are writing to urge you to support the Pine Tree Amendment, which would add environmental rights to the Maine constitution. People live in Maine and visit Maine because they appreciate the quality of life and place Maine offers.
We live in a time of rapid environmental change, and we need a strategy to conserve, protect and maintain the state’s natural resources. Doing so will help ensure that we business owners, many of whom rely on those natural resources, are able to continue to do our jobs, and to support our families and the state of Maine as a whole.
Please help us to protect the state that we love and the natural resources that are the basis of the Maine economy. Please vote in favor of the Pine Tree Amendment.
Sincerely,
