Submission of this application constitutes a contract confirming the author’s availability on Friday, November 2 between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:30 pm. Authors are expected to stay for the entire event.
The 41st Annual Book Fair and Authors’ Night, in partnership with Politics & Prose, will be held on Friday, November 2 at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. from 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm.
Submissions for the 41st Annual Book Fair & Authors’ Night are now open until Friday, September 21 at 5 pm EST. The upcoming National Press Club Book Fair & Authors’ Night will present over 100 authors with new releases published in 2018.
Application & Notification ProcessCompleted applications are due by close of business EST, Friday, September 21. Applications received after September 21 are not eligible for consideration. The Book Fair Selection Committee reviews the submissions and makes inclusion decisions. The committee will notify all applicants via email in early October. How is a book considered?To be considered for this year’s Book Fair, please send or have your publicist send us the following: • Completed online application • Copy of a finished book/galley/ARC • Press kit with clippings and reviews • Author bio with list of previously published titles

What types of books are considered?New titles published in 2018 covering all genres are considered, such as: • Fiction — adult literature, thrillers, mysteries • Non-fiction — history, current affairs, biography, memoir, and essays • Cookbooks and food-related titles • Children’s literature
What types of books are not considered? • Self-published titles and books only available in an e-book format will not be considered. • Books that are found to be non-returnable by the bookseller during the review process will be determined ineligible and disqualified from consideration. • Books published before November 2017.
If you are selected to be a participating author:All authors invited to participate will be assigned to a table. The Book Fair features book signings only. Sharpies will be provided.
The ordering and sale of your books will be handled by our bookseller, Politics & Prose.
Please note: Many smaller presses/publishing companies do not meet the ordering requirements of our bookseller. In this case, you will not be eligible to participate. Our bookseller is unable to purchase books directly from, or sell books on the behalf of, any author.
