Learning Needs Assessment - Instructions

This Learning Needs Assessment corresponds to the Collective Service's Using Social Science for Emergency Preparedness & Response training package. Individual practitioners or research team leads/trainers can use this form to conduct a learning needs assessment to understand their/their trainees knowledge gaps and to inform which session(s) within the training package should be prioritized.

Assessment questions are derived from the social science competency framework, and associated learning outcomes, established for this training. On the basis of responses given, a recommendation is provided for which training session(s) to incorporate into a training agenda. Sessions are rated as either Basic, Intermediate or Advanced.*

This assessment has seven subsequent sections: Social science in health emergency and humanitarian action (Section 2), Context analysis and barriers and enablers to behaviours (Section 3), Ethics in operational social science (Section 4), Implementation of social science (Section 5), Evidence synthesis, interpretation and dissemination (Section 6), Translating knowledge to action (Section 7), and Tracking the uptake of socio-behavioural evidence (Section 8). Each of these sections has a short series of likert scale questions for respondents to self-assess themselves: 1) Very poor, 2) Poor, 3) Acceptable, 4) Good, 5) Very good.

At the end of the assessment you can access your results, where recommendations will be provided for specific training sessions to prioritize on the basis of your responses. A copy of these results will also be automatically emailed to the address provided at the beginning of the form. Email address are only collected for the purposes of sending you/your trainer a copy of your results and recommendations. They are not retained within the system, nor used for any other purposes.
