Get Involved @ EPL!
There are many areas that we can use your help. Please mark how you may be interested in helping and fill out the contact information on the next page. We’ll be in touch to give you more details. Thank you!
Display Cases - Do you have a collection that could be placed in one of the library’s display cases? We have a large display case outside the Community Room and one smaller case near the Reference Desk. In the past we’ve had collections of toys, coins, dolls, stamps, robots, matryoshka dolls, historical memorabilia, and cars.
I think I can help, please send more information.
ELFs (Edwardsville Library Friends) - The Edwardsville Library Friends (the ELFs) are citizens convinced of the importance of a modern, well-equipped and well-staffed library. One of the ELF's main projects is the operation of Carnegie's, the used book and gift shop/café across from the Library's circulation desk. ELFs are involved in every aspect of Carnegie's, including staffing the counter, sorting book donations, selecting gift items to sell and scheduling volunteers. Money raised through ELF projects help fund a wide variety of items and projects, such as special entertainment for the annual summer reading program.
More Information please!
Social Media Ambassador - If you’re a fan of the Edwardsville Public Library and would like to help us extend our reach into the community and raise awareness of the Library through social media, we’d like to invite adults, kids, and families to become EPL Ambassadors. This is a brand new program and we’d love your help! We’ll be organizing Ambassadors through emails that will give you the inside scoop on Library programs and new services. Our EPL Ambassadors will get an early look at new services and materials and a chance to try things out before they become publically available. Then, we’ll be asking you to help us spread the word by sharing our posts or creating your own.
Sounds intriguing, please send me more details!
Guest Presenter - Programs and presentations at the library are great opportunities for members of our community to share their expertise and experiences with an audience. Historical researchers, world travelers, home gardeners, and many more have shared their stories in our large community room. If you think your research or experience would benefit the community we’d love to have a conversation with you.
I have some ideas, let's talk.
Book/DVD Reviewer and/or Blog Contributor - Would you like to share reviews of books you’ve read and/or movies you’ve watched? We would love your contributions to our Blog. Your involvement could be writing up a few sentences about a book/DVD or a full post giving book/DVD suggestions, an author/illustrator spotlight, or an idea of your own.
Sounds fun, send me more information.
Teen Advisory Board and/or Volunteer at the Library - The Teen Advisory Board (aka T.A.B.) is a group of 6th-12th graders who play an active role in the planning and implementing of youth programs at the Edwardsville Library. Board member privileges include sharing ideas for future teen activities, decorating the Teen section of the Library, volunteer opportunities at children’s programs, and attending exclusive TAB events. Volunteering at the library is available for Teens in 6th-12th grade. Volunteers will have a variety of tasks like helping preparing crafts for story time, cleaning and straightening of the library, and helping with special events.
