A project from the National Botanic Gardens
Maybe you visit the National Botanic Gardens for a walk every day or got your wedding photos taken here? Do you remember a happy time you visited in your childhood? Have you a story about a famous person you met here or to a recent historical event? Maybe the connection is familial, maybe a relative worked here over the years or you are just a big fan of a particular tree or plant and come to see its progress through the growing season?

We want to hear these stories, document them and turn them into an exhibition for National Heritage Week 2024. The aim is to highlight the incredible social history a site like the gardens can create over many years illustrating its importance locally, regionally and nationally.

Whilst our prime focus in the gardens is horticultural and botanical, Heritage Week allows us to focus on social and cultural history and gives us a unique chance to record some of the stories of the over 600,000 visitors that come from all walks of life to visit the gardens every year.
