Welcome to the SHIPYARD OLD PORT HALF MARATHON & 5K Volunteer Sign Up Sheet, the race is held on June 22nd, 2019 at 7:00am. Please select at least one job or shift, you may select more than one as long as the shift times do not overlap. Job descriptions are listed below. Our volunteer coordinator will contact you via email as we get closer to the event with more information on your requested duty. REGISTRATION / BIB PICKUP
Would you like to work at REGISTRATION / BIB PICKUP?
Volunteers will support runners by handing out bibs, commemorative race shirts, and other merchandise. The groups involved with this duty include: Portland Trails. All volunteers will receive an official volunteer shirt. After the last runner finishes, all volunteers will be invited to join the post race party and receive free pizza, ice cream, and beer. We expect roughly 5,500 participants from around the country. The entire area will be very congested and we recommend that volunteers plan to park their vehicles far away and walk to the registration location.

FINISH LINE SUPPORT
Would you like to work as a FINISH LINE SUPPORT?
Volunteers in the finish line area will support runners by handing out finisher's medallions, water bottles, and cold wet towels. The finish line is located in the middle of Fore St at the intersection of Exchange St. This will be a very busy place because the finish line will get setup after the start of the half marathon at 7:00 AM. Our setup crews will quickly moves the materials into place before the first finisher crosses the line. The groups involved with this duty include: Portland Trails and Life Is Good. All volunteers will receive an official volunteer shirt. After the last runner finishes volunteers will be invited to join the post race party and receive free pizza, ice cream, and beer. The entire area will be very congested and we recommend that volunteers plan to park their vehicles far away and walk to the finish chute.
Finish Line Support: 7:15am - 11:00am
Would you like to work at a WATER STATION?
Volunteers will support runners by handing out cups of water and Gatorade. Adults and mature children are welcome to volunteer. At some water stops volunteers will also hand out wet towels that consist of a 12"x 12" shop towels dunked in an ice bath. The race starts at 7:00 AM and all volunteers need to be in position by 6:00 AM. The end time of this duty will depend upon the water stop location -- earlier stops will wrap up sooner but no later than 10:30 AM. All volunteers will receive an official volunteer shirt. After the last runner passes by volunteers will be invited to join the post race party and receive free pizza, ice cream, and beer in the Old Port near 427 Fore St.

I know that volunteering for a road race is potentially hazardous activity, which could cause injury or death. I will not enter and participate unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform this event, and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to any aspect of my participation in this event, including the right of any official to deny or suspend my participation for any reason whatsoever. I assume all risks associated with volunteering in this event, including but no limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including freezing temperatures, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and inconsideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release GiddyUp Events LLC, the City of Portland, all event sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, motion pictures, recordings or any other record of this event for any legitimate purpose.
