OpenMedia is looking to recruit 6-12 thoughtful individuals who are passionate about the open Internet, digital advocacy, and how OpenMedia can bring the two together to join our inaugural advisory board.
OpenMedia is a community-driven organization of 370,000+ that works to safeguard the possibilities of the open Internet. We believe there has never been a more crucial need to unite the voices of Internet users worldwide to build a community that will protect and nourish our access, free expression, and privacy online.
The advisory board will support our team by providing thinking and brainstorming space for big conversations about the Internet, beyond our day to day campaigns. Where is today's Internet going wrong? What will it look like when generative AI has been fully adopted? Can we reawaken an Internet that isn't run by and for Big Tech ? These questions and more will be considered at advisory board meetings.
OpenMedia's advisory board is NOT our governing board - to apply to join the latter, click

The advisory board will meet roughly once every two months through 2024 to discuss a selection of these big questions. A more in-depth description of the advisory board's purpose and structure is available
here.
To ensure an appropriate diversity of key stakeholder perspectives, we are seeking a mix of:
Academics who are experts on our digital rights issues, and can help us think through their policy solutions;
Community members who have supported our work for years, and can help us maintain OpenMedia’s spirit and ethos into our future;
Activists from inside and outside the digital rights movement who can help us understand the future of grassroots energy, and how to continue channelling it effectively as existing platforms and tools weaken.
Applications will be accepted until May 31, 2024. We especially welcome women, people of colour and other diverse voices to apply.
