Queer-Centric Doula Training Development
We are seeking community consultation and input for the creation of a queer-centric doula training toolkit. Doulas are non-clinical support people for the perinatal period including prenatal education, labour and delivery, and newborn care and feeding.

Currently, we are seeking input on navigating the barriers faced by Queer-identified folks and their support networks through the perinatal period. Our goal is to create resources to help doulas navigate those barriers with the folks they support, while identifying ways doulas can serve as active allies through their roles.

This toolkit will be used as an educational tool for a queer-centered doula training program in development by Wellness Within and NSPIRG, which will provide doula training to members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, prioritizing racialized members of the 2SQTBIPOC community. In addition, we will make the toolkit widely available so that it can be used by other doulas and trainers across the country looking to provide more queer-centered perinatal care.

If you identify as part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and have experience in the birthing process and perinatal care (either as a birthing person or support), we would appreciate the knowledge and perspective you can bring to this project.

*We use perinatal care to refer to providing or receiving support before, during and after childbirth
