Autumn 2026 Scottish Borders Shabbaton Application Form
Join us for an incredible Shabbaton in the Scottish Borders, where we'll join together to celebrate Shabbat with friends and community.

Over the weekend we will have a chance to celebrate Shabbat together with old friends and new from across Scotland. We'll have all your favourite Shabbat traditions and celebrations, Jewish learning sessions, walks in nature, optional wild swimming, a tour of a local distillery, Shabbat meals, and more, and we'll be joined by both international and local Jewish educators!

All are welcome, from all Jewish backgrounds, including non-Jewish partners. This will be a welcoming and pluralistic space, perfect for people looking to connect to the Jewish community here for the first time, as well as those looking to deepen their existing communities and relationships. It will be open and explanatory, so no worries if it's your first time. We'd also love for people to take a part in shaping the weekend, so definitely note it below if you have something you'd like to share with the group!

We will begin with a soft arrival between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm on Friday, October 16, to allow people to settle in. Lunch will be served at 12:15 pm, and the formal programme will begin at 1:00 pm. We will finish at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 18. If you need to arrange alternative joining and departing times, please note in the form below. Sunset that Friday is at 6:15 pm.

The location will only be sent to registered participants, in order to keep everyone safe and secure. Please don't share the location with others publicly. The venue can be reached via a:
-1 hour 30 minute direct bus ride from Buchanan Street Bus Station (Glasgow), followed by a 10-minute (relatively flat) walk to the venue
-1 hour drive from Glasgow
-1 hour 30 minute drive from Edinburgh
-2 hour 15 minute drive from Dundee
-3 hour 30 minute drive from Aberdeen
-50 minute drive from Carlisle
-45. minute bus ride from Dumfries
Participants are required to arrange their own transportation, and these costs are not included in the registration fee. There is ample free parking at the venue. If you need to know the exact location in order to decide if you'll be able to come, please reach out to Sydney at torahbteva@gmail.com.

This will be a pluralistic, egalitarian and welcoming space for people coming from a wide variety of Jewish backgrounds and communities. All activities on the Shabbaton will be Shabbat observant to a Modern Orthodox level, and we would encourage all participants to use this opportunity to unplug and settle into the Shabbat vibe. All food will be kosher and vegetarian. Please note any additional dietary requirements below. If you have any specific questions regarding religious observance please reach out.

This Shabbaton is funded through the Mem Global Retreatology Programme. The early bird registration price (until August 23, 2026) is £75, and £95 for those who register after (until October 4, 2026). After those dates, please be in touch with Sydney at torahbteva@gmail.com to see if there is any availability prior to filling in the form. Limited financial assistance may available, please be in touch with Sydney for more information. Following your submission of this form, we will send an acceptance email and transfer details, to complete the payment via e-transfer. Payments will be due within 1 week of your registration deadline (either early bird or regular), via e-transfer, unless you're in touch to make alternative arrangements.

If this is your first time attending a Jewish community event, we might reach out to get to know you. If you have a person you know from another organisation (i.e. a friend who's been to previous events, someone from your shul), feel free to let us know. If not, no worries, you're still very welcome to join!

Please note that this is an application form, we will review all applications and confirm your acceptance by email.

Funding for this Shabbaton comes from Mem Global, who mainly cater to those in their 20s and 30. We'd love for you to join us if you're above or below those demographics (18+), but we just need to monitor ages for our grant reporting. What is your date of birth? *
