Student Application for AVID - 2024-25
AVID is an elective class offered to students who would like to prepare for four-year universities. The curriculum features writing, inquiry, collaboration, reading, note-taking, study skills, and college/career/motivational activities. College students serve as tutors and are in the classroom twice a week. Field trips are also taken to universities in the area to expose students to area universities and the opportunities they have to offer. Students must also commit to taking notes in subject-area classes on a daily basis.

If you are within the following criteria and could use the support of the AVID program in order to enter a four-year college/university after the completion of high school, please fill out this form.

Many, but not all, AVID students are
a. of an ethnicity traditionally underrepresented in colleges,
b. economically disadvantaged,
c. the first-time college attendee from a family, and/or
d. any combination of the above.
Also,
e. you have between a 2.0 and 3.5 GPA but have a desire to do better.
f.  you have appropriate classroom behavior.
        g. you have good attendance.
h. you have the motivation and desire to prepare for entrance to a four-year
             college/university.

As a part of being in AVID, you must also take rigorous courses. These courses will help prepare you for the challenging courses in college. We provide tutorial support for these tough courses. This includes Honors, AP and/or Dual Enrollment courses. Do you understand that you will also be expected to take rigorous courses even if you were not recommended for them? *
