Spring 2024 CESA Call for Proposals is Open!
Thank you for your interest in a UAA Center for Community Engagement & Learning (CCEL) Community-Engaged Student Assistant!
Deadline for Spring 2024: January 12th, 2024 @ 5pm
Priority will be given to those applicants who meet the Jan. 12th deadline, however, applications submitted after the deadline will be considered if funding remains.
Community Engaged Student Assistants (CESAs) may be awarded UAA Administration Scholarships to support faculty in their teaching, research, or creative activity. All activities should emphasize the importance of integrating community engaged experiences, disciplinary learning outcomes, or research and creative activity goals. The amount of scholarship award requested should correspond to the number of hours that students will be contributing. At the end of the semester, CESAs are expected to create a poster describing you/their projects. These posters will be displayed at CCEL's Community Engagement Forum (April 2024; exact date TBD).
CESA activities should help students develop their leadership and commitment to civic engagement on campus and in the community and support students, faculty, and community partners in one or more of four key areas:
- developing community partnerships;
- recruiting, placing, training, and coordinating service-learners for courses;
- developing creative projects, applying technical expertise, and collecting research data;
- providing direct service/research to the community partner(s).
