The Igniter Internship Experience SY 2022-2023, Enrollment Application
St. Francis Neighborhood Center (SFNC) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), community based organization, committed to increasing access to high-quality education, enrichment, workforce development, and mentoring programs for the Reservoir Hill community.

Our afterschool youth program, named The Power Project, is one of the only free academically based programs serving youth in the 21217 zip code. The program is a unique place where youth have the opportunity to create their own success, grow in self-awareness, and explore the pivotal role they play in their community. The program consists of three major components: education support, mentoring, and arts enrichment and includes opportunities for one-on-one tutoring, educational workshops, and dynamic cultural experiences.

Although the program is geared towards youth from ages 5-14, SFNC also strives to provide high school students and recent graduates with resources and opportunities to thrive as well. Through this paid internship opportunity, interns are given the opportunity explore what success means to them, personally, while also building upon leadership skills. Through our FLARE (Future Leaders Achieving and Rising with Education), formally known as JCCP, component , mentorship/tutor sessions, youth-led programming, skill shares and partnerships, and monthly check-ins,  the interns are also given an opportunity to walk away feeling ignited and more prepared to approach the ongoing "Whats Next" question.

This is a 100% scholarship program and students and families from low-income households are encouraged to apply.

The Power Project runs from October 10th- May 25th. Students meet at St. Francis Neighborhood Center (2405 S. Linden Ave Baltimore, MD 21217) weekly, Monday-Thursday, starting at 2pm or after they are dismissed from school. Interns are to be picked up from the program at 6pm. Dinner is provided for all students during program days. This will also be a paid opportunity.
