Chalk Walk is a community art event and annual fundraiser for FYACS' Arts for All program, which provides financial and adaptive assistance to make creative experiences accessible to everyone.

This year’s event is on Saturday, September 26th, 2026 from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM, with a rain date of Sunday, September 27th. Will you consider donating your time and talent to help make Chalk Walk a success this year?

Here are the details:

• Artists will create original chalk artwork along the walkway outside of City Hall (3’ x 5’ spots) or along Ell Pond in Melrose, MA. All work must be done the morning of September 26 (or the rain date of September 27). While the main event runs 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, artists are welcome to start earlier if they choose, and special exceptions can be made for Friday evening if needed.

• Each artist will be paired with a sponsoring business, nonprofit, or family. Artists may request specific sponsor pairings; please let us know if you have contacts or connections you’d like us to make. A pre-Chalk Walk meet-up will be held for artists and sponsors on the evening of September 18th.

• FYACS will supply chalk/chalk spray for your use. You are welcome to supplement the materials with your own non-permanent supplies.

• The content of all artworks must be appropriate for public and family viewing. Logos and/or names should not be included in the artwork.

• A photographer will be documenting the work for permanence, and will be gifting each artist and sponsor with a print of their work.

• Artists will be recognized on event signage, the FYACS website, and social media, with links to your webpage and social media.
