Friday, October 13: STEAM Full STEAM ahead! Learn how science and art are intertwined in nature. Examine how caterpillars metamorphose into butterflies and create a model of the process. Use 3-D pens & other tools to design sea creatures to take home.
Friday, November 10: Go Green! Reduce, reuse, recycle! Discover the ways you can help the Earth sustain its natural resources. Use Snap Circuits Green kits to learn about the different forms of environmentally friendly energy: geothermal, wind, solar and more.
Friday, December 8: Heat Wave Solid, liquid or gas? Discover what happens when molecules are heated or cooled, explore how thermometers work and make Shrinky Dinks (figurines baked-to-shrink in an oven) and/or Fuze bead designs (colored beads fused together using an iron).
Friday, January 12: Geology Rocks! Become a geologist! Complete a series of experiments that explore the Earth's layers. Experiments may include: cupcake geology, identify rock layers using candy bars, and learn the rock cycle using shredded crayons.
Friday, February 9: Out of this World Take an adventure through the solar system! Design planet headbands or create your own pocket solar system and analyze the sizes and distances of the planets. Includes a showing of Perfect Little Planet in the planetarium theatre.
Friday, March 9: Code Lab Become a software engineer! Make code bracelets, learn your name in binary code, and use ScratchJr, an introductory programming language, to complete the programming challenge “Can I Make the Sun Set?”
Friday, April 13: Robotics On-the-Move Ready, set, go! Build different types of transportation robots using LEGO WeDo 2.0 kits featuring motors and motion sensors. Learn techniques to measure distances and master the basics of force and motion.
Friday, May 11: Engineering Challenge Push the limits of innovation! Construct several formations and test the strength of different building materials and shapes. Explore the various engineering fields through exciting demonstrations and experiments.
COSTThe cost is $20 per student per program for registrations received before 12:00 p.m. the day before the program. The cost is $25 per student per program for registration received after 12:00 p.m. the day before the program. Home School Days Annual Subscriptions are available for a discounted cost of $160 per student and include all programs listed above. CLC family membership holders receive a 10% discount on individual programs. Discounts cannot be combined and no other discounts apply. Cost includes all materials and a popcorn snack.
PRE-REGISTRATIONThe registration form must be completed and submitted before 12:00 p.m. the day before the program to receive the discount ($20 or $160 for Annual Subscription). Registration is complete and confirmed on receipt of completed registration form and full payment. Programs are limited in size; therefore, registrations will be processed on a first-come, first serve basis. Registration after 12:00 p.m. the day before the program or at the door is accepted, if space permits, and costs $25 per student per program.
CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDSNo refunds will be offered for Home School Days programs. For cancellations received at least 48 hours prior to any program, your registration fee may be applied to future Home School Days programs.
