”GETTING STARTED” AT A GLANCE
Children will be introduced to an independent and play based classroom experience that will help foster their social/emotional, cognitive and physical development. They are free to discover, explore, and interact with their peers in a nurturing and safe environment both indoors and outdoors. This class prepares them for their transition to our three year old program by helping them develop skills necessary to become part of a group. Parents are assisted with separation issues if needed. Child to teacher ratio is 6:1.
"THREE YEAR OLDS" AT A GLANCE
Children continue to work on their social/emotional, cognitive and physical development. We accomplish this through the interest areas in our classrooms where they are free to make their own choices. A weekly thematic unit in introduced and children are giving more opportunities to develop their self help skills, pro social skills and learn what it is like to be an integral part of a group. Activities are developmentally appropriate and children progress at their own pace. We realize that each child is an individual and has his or her own interests. Children in this program work on developing their fine motor skills (cutting/forming letters/number recognition) and cognitive skills in order for them to become exposed to early literacy and early writing skills. Parents are always welcome to assist in the classroom (see Curriculum Goals for a sampling of our themes). Teaching respect and manners is paramount to our program.
"FOUR YEAR OLDS" AT A GLANCE
The 4’s continue to work on their social/emotional, cognitive and physical development. Thematic units are more in depth and children are involved in some planning of the curriculum. Concentration this year is preparing the children for Kindergarten through our play based centers. Children “sign – in” at the beginning of the session to practice name recognition of their own name and those of their classmates names. Beginning sounds are integrated into our circle time activities. Challenging activities are offered to those students who are developmentally ready for this. Graphing, estimating and voting are part of our early math curriculum. Manners and respect continue to be a priority. Parent involvement is also encouraged.
"KinderClub" AT A GLANCE
KinderClub is a Kindergarten Enrichment Program designed to enhance children’s learning beyond the traditional kindergarten classroom. Children will explore fun and creative hands-on activities in a rich learning environment. Utilizing both individual and cooperative group learning situations, children will build on what they are learning in Kindergarten and be exposed to an exciting curriculum. Each thematic unit may include science, language arts, math, social studies, geography, creative arts and cooking.
We reserve the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment.
