Fall 2020 - SME Scholarship Application
CRITERIA:
1. Applicants must intend to become an employee in the mining, metallurgy or exploration fields.

2. Applicants must be currently enrolled at the University of Arizona with the intent to earn their degree from the UA. Additionally, they must be in good standing with the college.

3. Undergraduate applicants must be enrolled for 12 credit hours during the current semester. Graduate students must be enrolled for 9 credit hours during the current semester. If you do not meet the minimum unit requirement, we still encourage you to complete the application.

4. Applicants must be a member of the UA SME Student Chapter at the time the application is submitted as well as the semester that the scholarships are distributed.

5. Previous recipients are eligible to apply; however, recipients of the Exceptional Leader, Outstanding Leader, and Future Leader Awards are ineligible to receive the same award twice.

2. The Section requests that applicants not supply a cover letter, letters of recommendation, or a resume with their applications.

DEADLINES:
-Applications must be submitted by 12:00 PM MST on Saturday, June 27, 2020
-Scholarship recipients will be notified by Monday, September 14, 2020
-Scholarship recipients are expected to attend the Annual Scholarship Fundraiser Dinner (date TBD). Students are not charged for their dinners.

Units may be a combination of community college and University of Arizona. If you do not meet the minimum unit requirement, we still encourage you to apply -- please note reason for missed requirement in the essay portion of the application.
SME University of Arizona Member? *
Applicants are required to be an active member of the SME University of Arizona Chapter to be eligible for an SME scholarship. Membership to the SME Tucson professional chapter or the National SME organization does not substitute. The scholarship board will review the active membership roster for both Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 prior to awarding a scholarship.
