Point System
HONORABLE ACHIEVEMENT (30 points)
Demonstration of distinguished contributions to society on the state, regional, national, or global levels.
CAREER (20 points)
Demonstration of noteworthy accomplishments in his/her field.
COMMUNITY (20 points)
Demonstration of service to his/her community through civic, religious, charitable, business, professional, or other contributions.
LOYALTY TO LANE (30 points)
Demonstration of financial giving, support of Lane College through his/her time and talent, and utilizes Lane College educational services in her/his occupations.
METHOD OF SELECTION
The Alumni Awards Committee is appointed by the president and consists of one or more persons in each of the following groups: Alumni, staff, faculty, students, and friends of the College.
The Alumni Awards Committee, in consultation with the President, the Director of Alumni Affairs, and the Director of the Annual Fund, annually determines the schedule and deadline for the selection process, which is expected to completed by July 31. Completed nominations shall be submitted to the Alumni Awards Committee. Using the criteria above, the committee will consider all nominees and make its selections. The committee shall determine the appropriate category in which honorees are recognized.
Nominees who are not selected may have their materials considered the following year as long as the nominator provides a current resume (if there is new information) by the deadline of the following year. Those not selected in the second year will not be reconsidered until the passage of three years after their initial nomination.
To ensure permanent recognition, a plaque with the names of the Hall of Distinction inductees will become part of the Lane College Archives and each inductee will be provided with an individual plaque.
