Student Internet Safety Policy - Política de seguridad del estudiante en Internet
I understand that a copy of the Granville County Public Schools Internet Safety Policy is available online at the GCPS Website and understand that I am responsible for my actions while using computers and network resources that belong to Granville County Public Schools. This includes any computers or other technology resources that may be taken home. I understand and will abide by the Granville County Public Schools Internet Safety Policy. I understand that any violation of the Granville County Public Schools Internet Safety Policy will result in the loss of access privileges, disciplinary action and/or legal action as deemed appropriate by Granville County Public Schools.

Granville County Public Schools Device Parent and Student Agreement - Acuerdo de padres y estudiantes sobre dispositivos de las escuelas públicas del condado de Granville

We are excited to be able to provide your student with a laptop computer while they are enrolled at a Granville County Public Schools. 

Please note the following conditions of the program:

  • Parents and students must sign the laptop agreement.
  • $25.00 Fee - First damage incident requiring replacement of parts or device replacement (unless due to negligence, intentional damage or vandalism)
  • $25.00 Fee - Second damage incident requiring replacement of parts or device replacement.
  • Additional damage incidents requiring replacement of parts - Actual cost of repair or replacement cost of the laptop as determined by school technician (Up to $150)
  • Intentional damage or vandalism - Actual cost of repair or replacement cost of the laptop as determined by school technician ($150)
  • If a laptop is lost or stolen, you are responsible for paying a $150.00 fee. 
  • Laptops that are not returned to the principal when a student leaves, transfers, or withdraws from school will constitute theft by conversion.  The procedures outlined in the Laptop Handbook will be followed and the theft will be reported to law enforcement.
  • The principal has the discretion to permanently confiscate the laptop from the student at any time.
  • The laptop remains property of Granville County Public Schools.
  • The same laptop will be issued to each student each year.  The power cord will remain with the student for the duration of his/her time enrolled in Granville County Public Schools.  If the power cord is not returned or is damaged, you will pay a $25 fee for replacement.

Students will:

  • Use the laptop appropriately.
  • Care for the laptop assigned to them and not leave it unsupervised in unsecured locations. 
  • Be responsible for all damage or loss caused by neglect or abuse. 
  • Not loan the laptop to another individual.
  • Do not use the laptop near food or drinks.
  • Not disassemble any part of the laptop or attempt any repairs. 
  • Not place stickers, drawings, markings, etc. on the laptop and will not deface the serial number sticker on the laptop.
  • Understand that the laptop and its contents may be inspected at any time because it is school property. 
  • Agree to return the laptop and power cord in working condition. 
  • Follow the policies, procedures, and guidelines outlined in the Laptop Handbook and the Technology Responsible Use Policy at all times.

I understand that the GCPS Internet Safety Policy is in force for my child using resources belonging to Granville County Public Schools, including resources that may be taken home. I understand that Internet access is provided for educational purposes only and that my child is responsible for his/her conduct while accessing the Internet. I understand that Granville County Public Schools cannot block access to all inappropriate materials on the Internet. I accept full responsibility for my child’s compliance with the GCPS Internet Safety Policy and hereby give my consent for my child to use the Granville County Public Schools network and computer resources.
