In this workshop, Jon Gagnon (co-founder of Sundance Commons and market gardener for a decade) will lead us through the practical side of farming with others. This session is designed for beginner growers who want to build a farm that operates as a collective from the ground up or who would like to learn about processes involved in collaborative farming.
Jon will cover many topics in relation to collaborative farming such as bylaws, leases, land access, governance and group decision-making processes. Jon will share the methods he has used over many seasons to develop these successful collaborative structures, alongside strategies for land access and the logistics of managing shared space and resources.
You will learn how to set up the systems Jon uses to keep a team organized and moving in the same direction. From internal communication to legal frameworks and clear processes, this workshop provides the templates needed to establish so everyone can focus on growing food together as a community.
For the last 30 minutes of this session there will be time for a question and answer period with Jon, someone who has been market gardening for about ten years, to answer. There will be crop planning information sent to you ahead of time and space at the end of the webinar to troubleshoot your crop planning questions.
This offering is a part of the New Farmer Training Program.
On the 26th of January we have another webinar on Farmers Markets and Value Added Products.
