CA13 Staff Application

Thank you for your interest in applying to be on the staff for Crusader Awakening 13, which will be taking place February 26-28, 2021. Our theme verse is above and we ask that you pray with it for our retreatants over the next weeks/months as we prepare for CA13.

After we receive your application, we will contact you soon to let you know how you can serve! Please keep in mind that we will do everything we can to have you on the staff that you request here, but that's not always possible, so we may ask you to serve in a different way on the retreat. If you have any questions, please email crusader.awakening@gmail.com.

NB: Please remember that as a staff member, you will have to pay the retreat fee which is TBD. (Scholarships will be available upon request to Fr. Joseph Paul at jalbin@udallas.edu.)

Why do you feel called to staff Crusader Awakening 13? *
A 2-5 sentence explanation is appreciated.  Please include the reasons why you chose to apply for the particular staff position. For example, what particular gifts or insights you can bring to the staff.
What is your favorite aspect of Crusader Awakening? (Or Awakening in general, if attended others) *
We would suggest steering away from simpler answers like "The Faith Talk" or "the meals were good" or "the retreat site was awesome" but rather: spiritual/community aspects, activities, or opportunities. E.g. the extra reflective silence, the small size of the retreat group, table family intimacy, maturity of the talks and/or discussions, etc.
What is a weak spot, or something that is missing or that could be improved, in Crusader Awakening (or the Awakening which you attended)? *
We would like to know the weak areas of the retreat in order to improve on those, or we can try to include important spiritual and communal aspects that may have been lacking in the past. Ex: more liturgical environment (better backdrop, icons, etc)
I understand that if I am chosen for Crusader Awakening 13 Staff, I must agree to pay the $25 staff fee to Campus Ministry no later than February 19th, 2020. *

CRUSADER AWAKENING XIII PARTICIPANT FULL RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIMS AND AGREEMENT NOT TO SUE THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS AND ITS REPRESENTATIVES
My participation in Crusader Awakening XIII ("the Program”) is wholly voluntary and I am under no obligation to participate in the Program. In consideration of the agreement of the University of Dallas to permit me to participate in this Program, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I agree as follows:

1. Release of Liability: I, individually, and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns and personal representatives, hereby release and forever discharge the University of Dallas and its employees, agents, officers, trustees, volunteers and representatives (in their official and individual capacities) from any and all liability whatsoever for any and all damages, losses or injuries (including death) I sustain to my person or property or both, including but not limited to any claims, demands, actions, causes of action, judgments, damages, expenses and costs, including attorney fees, which arise out of, result from, occur during or are connected in any manner with my participation in the Program and/or any travel incident thereto.

2. Release of Damages: I represent and warrant that I will be covered throughout the Program by a policy of comprehensive health and accident insurance which provides coverage for illness or injuries. I hereby release and discharge the University of all responsibility and liability for any injuries, illnesses, medical bills, charges or similar expenses I incur which arises out of, results from, occurs during or is connected in any manner with my participation in the Program and/or any travel incident thereto.

3. Statement of Indemnification: I individually, and on behalf of my heirs, successors, assigns and personal representatives, hereby agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the University and its employees, agents, officers, trustees and representatives in their official and individual capacities) from any and all liability, loss, damage or expense, including attorney fees, that they or any of them incur or sustain as a result of any claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, judgments, costs or expenses, including attorney fees, which arise out of, occur during, or in any way connected with my participation in the Program or any travel incident thereto.

4. Waiver of Legal Rights: I agree that this Waiver, Release and Indemnification Agreement is to be construed according to the laws of the State of Texas, USA; and that if any portion hereof is held invalid, the balance hereof shall, notwithstanding, continue in full force and effect. By my signature below I acknowledge that I have read this entire document, that I understand its terms, that by signing it I am giving up substantial rights I might otherwise have, and that I have signed knowingly and voluntarily. I intend my signature to be a complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law. In executing this document I intend for it to be binding on myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and representatives in the event of my death or incapacity.
