Extreme Experiments & Unhinged Hypotheses

Have you ever dreamed of running an experiment without limits? Do you have a theory so wild it breaks the boundaries of conventional thinking? Bring it to Extreme Experiments & Unhinged Hypotheses—a lightning round of 5-minute talks where imagination reigns.

This is your chance to unveil bold research designs, speculative theories, or experimental frameworks that defy constraints—whether it’s a study too ambitious to fund, a concept so daring it might just work, or a theory on the bleeding edge of science fiction. Flesh it out in flash!

Submission Guidelines:

  • Talks must be under 5 minutes. Slides (up to 10 slides) are permitted but not required.
  • Topics may include (but aren’t limited to) zombies and the apocalypse, the zombification of education, AI and environmental collapse, horror as a survival tool, and other visions at the edge of science, art, and survival.
  • Wild speculation and creative leaps are not just welcome—they’re required.

Push the frontiers of thought. Court the impossible. Go unhinged. Submit your abstract today.

About ZAMM
The Zombie Apocalypse Medicine Meeting (ZAMM) is a radically interdisciplinary meeting that bridges science and the arts to grapple with the most pressing challenges of the present and the future. We define a zombie as an entity that is fully or partially under the control of another entity. This includes host-parasite interactions, autonomous technology, and coercion/control in human interactions. These dynamics - where one entity controls another - can lead to unanticipated biological, technological and social consequences. We use the zombie apocalypse as a lens through which we can engage about potentially frightening aspects of our present and future without fear and anxiety, but instead with imagination and creativity. The goal of ZAMM is to reduce the global burden of zombification and contribute to apocalypse prevention and preparedness through interdisciplinary engagement. ZAMM is unique in both its interdisciplinary nature and playful approach. Learn more on our website.
