Thank you for your interest in becoming an instructor (volunteering) for Music as Medicine's Music for Change program at Mark Twain Elementary School! This unique opportunity allows you to mentor elementary school students in learning music theory while making a positive impact on our community.
In partnership with Mark Twain Elementary School, Music as Medicine is seeking individuals who are proficient in playing a musical instrument and are passionate about inspiring young minds. As an instructor, you will have the chance to share your musical expertise, foster creativity, and empower students by leading a music classroom at Twain. Our mentors will be teaching in class sizes of 15-20 students each.
Program Details:
- Commitment: This is a semester-long commitment that will take place every Wednesday during the school year.
- Location: Mark Twain Elementary School: 7500 Braes Blvd, Houston, TX 77025, United States
- Time: The mentoring sessions will be held after school. Further information will be sent out soon.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in playing a musical instrument
- Previous experience teaching or mentoring music/instrumental lessons is preferred
- Ability to commit to mentoring sessions during the assigned semester
- Availability every Wednesday during the designated time frame
- Willingness to collaborate with other instructors and coordinate lesson plans
