So before we begin, we have a few questions for you. From there, we'll enroll you, go over the PCC Ladder rules, introduce you to fellow group members and get you on the courts.
We will send out more info once we get started, but here's some background:> The ladder is a challenge system that works on a simple principle: you challenge someone above you to play a match. If you win, you go above them and if you lose you stay where you are. People below you can also challenge you and if they win they go above you and if they lose they stay below. This is the basic concept.> Ladders will run throughout 2016 and probably beyond. > The ladder will provide seeding for the upcoming PCC Club Championship (separate registration). Finals weekend is scheduled for November 5/6th, with earlier round matches in the weeks prior to that. Tournament results will be included into the ladders.> Update on the doubles ladders: Happy to report that the software we'll be using (TennisEngine) allows for individual doubles rankings, so there's greater flexibility in play. You don't necessarily have to play with the same partner all the time (the upcoming Club championships will have fixed partners).>All ladders employ the Quality Rating System (http://www.tennisengine.com/info/ranksys_quality.asp), a flexible algorithim that can tabulate matches played as best of three sets, two sets plus third set tiebreak, or eight game pro-set (with tie breaker at 8-8). Of course, mutual agreement needed on format before playing.> We plan to follow the venerable San Carlos Tennis Club's ladder rules (http://sancarlostennisclub.memberlodge.com/page-450787)> Let's get started!
