Jewish Community Response Volunteer Initiative
Sign up below to volunteer for the Jewish Community Response Volunteer Initiative (JCRVI) to help vulnerable members of our New Orleans Jewish community (current residents of a Jewish household in Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, St. Charles, Washington, Tangipahoa, St. Helena, Livingston, or St. Bernard parishes) during the prescribed COVID-19 stay at home period.
The Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans, Jewish Family Service of Greater New Orleans, the Jewish Endowment Foundation of Louisiana, and a number of partner synagogues have come together to create a basic needs response helpline.
Here’s how it works: eligible Jewish community members will file a request through the Jewish Federation helpline (by email or phone). Jewish Family Service will then screen and sort the request, and send it out to the appropriate synagogue or organization – who will then contact volunteers directly. Requests for community volunteers will generally involve picking up food, basic supplies, or prescriptions – or just to be a person to talk to in an effort for normalcy. It is important that as a community we stay connected during this time of distancing.
Once you've been informed of who you are to assist, you'll be responsible for reaching out to them within 24-hours to confirm their need. If you are asked to do anything involving purchases, the person you are assisting will be responsible for either paying the vendor in advance, or providing the payment through an electronic payment (such as Venmo or Google Wallet) that both parties choose.
Please fill out all the information below.
