Thank you for your interest in auditioning for SODELO. We currently rehearse on Monday evenings from 6:30PM to 9:00PM at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, DE.
Your first step is to complete this form and provide a video screening. Please complete this form and attach a link to a video of your playing. The requirements for the video follow. Please read all of the requirements that pertain to your instrument; beyond the solo portion required for all instruments, additional requirements vary by instrument.
All Instruments
Solo:
- A short solo or excerpt(s), 3-5 minutes
- Solos may come from etudes, concertos, solo repertoire, or any other source that you believe demonstrates your ability to play fast/technical and slow/lyrical passages
- Identify the piece(s) prior to playing
Additional Requirements for Percussion
- Please send a video of yourself on two to three instruments of your choice (snare, timpani, mallets, etc.)
- Identify each piece prior to playing
Additional Requirements for Woodwind/Brass Instruments
Scales
- 3 scales are required
* one 2-octave major scale of your choosing from the concert keys of E, A, D, G, C, F, Bb, Eb, or Ab
* one 2-octave melodic minor scale of your choosing from the concert keys of C#, F#, B, E, A, D, G, C, or F
* one chromatic scale of at least 2 octaves to demonstrate your performing range - Scales do not all have to be in the same key
- Scales should be performed in even 8th notes at a tempo in which they can be performed cleanly
- Identify each scale prior to playing
Additional Requirements for String Instruments
Scales/arpeggios- Scales and corresponding arpeggios of 3 octaves for all strings except for bass
- Scales and corresponding arpeggios of 2 octaves for bass
- 2 scales are required
* one major scale of your choosing from the concert keys of E, A, D, G, C, F, Bb, Eb, or Ab
* one melodic minor scale of your choosing from the concert keys of C#, F#, B, E, A, D, G, C, or F - Scales do not both have to be in the same key
- Scales should be performed in even 8th notes at a tempo in which they can be performed cleanly
- Identify each scale prior to playing
All videos must show you playing your instrument with clear audio. You may use a phone, laptop, or similar device to create the recording.
