MSAIV Leadership Team Expression of Interest
MSAIV (Medical Students Against Interpersonal Violence) is a student group that aims to promote and examine the role of medical students in addressing interpersonal violence as a medical and health issue through advocacy, education, and research. Learn more about MSAIV including examples of past events at www.msaiv.org.

The leadership team for MSAIV is responsible for setting a strategic direction for the year (e.g. 2022 focused on sexual violence), planning and organizing learning opportunities for U of C medical students. Administrative tasks include applying for events funding from CMSA, monitoring emails, maintaining website, communicating with other MSAIV chapter(s), and ensuring handover to new leadership the following year.

There are no set expectations for the number or type of events that MSAIV plans each year. The leadership structure, workload, and division of tasks are decided on by each year’s incoming MSAIV team depending on interest, availability, and other commitments. Examples from past MSAIV teams
  • The 2022 team had a chair and two vice-chairs. We hosted 3 zoom events, 1 in person event, and added a Resources page to the website.
  • The 2021 team had two co-chairs. They hosted 1 learning event and supported other student groups with larger organizing efforts.
  • The 2019-2020 team founded the group. They had a five-person executive (President, VP Education, VP Research, VP Communications, VP Advocacy). They created the MSAIV website and google drive, hosted 3 learning events over two years, and wrote a public statement on BLM solidarity.
