REQUIREMENTS TO SERVE ON SUPPORT STAFF You must be at least 23 years old. You must complete a background check and online training before June 1, 2019. We ask that you be present for the entire camp session.
The cost is $200 for the entire week. You will receive a confirmation letter and information about online payment information by April 15, 2019. Children are welcome; childcare is not provided.
Support staff members are housed in hotel-style lodge rooms. Linens and towels are provided. It helps us if support staff members are able to share rooms to cut down on costs. If special circumstances make it difficult for you to share a room, please email Lindsey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Episcopal Diocese of Alabama welcomes and affirms all because God welcomes and affirms all, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, ability, financial means, family status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. For us, welcome means ensuring that each person’s dignity is honored and affirmation means safeguarding all persons as unconditional and equal members of the body of Christ.
Why do I have to pay to come to camp to volunteer? This is a question we get asked a lot. Here's what we can tell you:
Financial assistance is readily available to all who need it. Everyone who asks for a scholarship gets one, no questions asked.
Our campers pay to come to camp, and we REALLY believe that our staff gets just as much out of this experience a our campers do. It doesn’t seem fair that the campers would pay and the staff would come for free.
Our staff is usually better able to pay than our campers are, because living with a disability often means living in poverty. Sharing the costs between staff and campers helps us make camp possible for everyone.
No one is turned away from camp because of inability to pay, but scholarship funds are limited. We ask that staff begin by asking their parish to sponsor their camp fees; if this isn't possible we can help figure out a way to help you come to camp.
