The Chicago Dance Studies Working Group is an initiative launched in fall 2022. The Working Group will meet five times this season at the MCA to discuss excerpts from new publications in dance studies. Our goal is to have rich conversations that build community among the breadth of people involved in dance in Chicago. All bodies, minds, and experience levels welcome. Readings and related visual material will be posted on the group website, and light movement may be incorporated into sessions.
For this year, we decided to change up the format, focus on one theme throughout the year, and read just one essay in preparation for each session. This year’s theme is ABSTRACTION.
For this year's wrap-up and planning for next season meeting, we will gather on Tuesday, May 27 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM in a DIFFERENT LOCATION than normal: Northwestern's downtown Abbott Hall (710 N. Lake Shore Drive). A Zoom option for remote participation will be available as usual.
