Odyssey of the Mind 2018-2019
Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices, to creating balsa wood structures, or presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and world level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program.

We had an informational meeting on October 3rd, but if you could not attend, you are welcome to find out about the program by checking out the Campbell website link under “Activities” and “Odyssey of the Mind” or by contacting Pamela.Clark@apsva.us. The Odyssey of the Mind teams could not form without volunteer coaches stepping forward. This year, we will be able to offer two competitive teams and one primary K-2 team (up to 7 students on each team). In addition, each team is required to provide a judge in order to compete in March. If you agree to coach OR judge at the competition, your child will automatically be given a spot on that team, or another team if requested. The rest of the children will be chosen by a lottery of the students who register for Odyssey of the Mind. Checks from families whose child does not get on a team will not be cashed and a paypal invoice will not be sent until confirmation.

***Please note: Odyssey of the Mind teams will begin meeting in the fall from the first full week of November through March 9, 2019***
