The Greater Baltimore Chapter of the Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is looking for passionate volunteers who are interested in joining chapter committees. Joining an AWIS Baltimore committee will be a great opportunity for volunteers to gain leadership experience and expand both professional and personal circles in Baltimore. While we are currently only looking for volunteers for the Programs and Public Relations Committee, we hope to start other AWIS Baltimore committees in the future.

Programs Committee
The objective of the AWIS Baltimore Programs Committee is to oversee AWIS Baltimore events from start to finish, including but not limited to logistics, volunteer coordination, as well as generating and executing current and future event ideas. The aim of these events is to provide career growth, networking opportunities and a support system for the Baltimore women in the STEM community.

2022-2023 Committee Chairs: Cosette Schneider & Jessica Semel (programs@awisbaltimore.org)

Responsibilities:
- Assist Program Chairs in planning and executing 4 (four) AWIS Baltimore meetings (Fall, Spring, Winter, Summer)
- Plans other small events throughout the year as the Program Chairs and Executive Board see fit
- Activities include generating ideas, coordination of speakers/panels, securing venues, management of registration for the event and interaction with the Public Relations Committee to market the event

Committee member benefits:
- Develop skills related to event planning, such as booking speakers and venues
- Improve networking skills through new connections made at AWIS Baltimore events
- Expand professional network in Baltimore area

Public Relations Committee
The objective of the AWIS Baltimore Public Relations Committee is to promote and advertise AWIS Baltimore events to current and potential members. This includes but is not limited to maintaining social media presence, updating our website, and disseminating promotional material for events.

2022-2023 Committee Chair: Eposi Elonge (socialmedia@awisbaltimore.org)

Responsibilities:
- Assist VP of Social Media in maintaining social media accounts of AWIS Baltimore (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linkedin)
- Assist Webmaster in keeping the AWIS Baltimore in creating content to ensure the website is up-to-date
- Assist the VP of Social Media and the VPs of Programs in creating promotional material for AWIS Baltimore events

Committee member benefits:
- Develop key professional skills in communication, marketing, and management
- Develop creative talent in designing marketing materials for AWIS Baltimore events
- Build professional online/social media presence as AWIS Baltimore representative
