INFO SIGN-UP for African American Historic Places, Los Angeles (AAHPLA) project.
Project Description:

AAHPLA will host virtual and in-person office hours and other community events as well as distribute a Project Update. Please let us know what opportunities you might be interested in.

The AAHPLA project is a joint project between Los Angeles City Planning’s Office of Historic Resources and the Getty Conservation Institute to better identify, protect, and celebrate African American heritage throughout the City of LA.

The project will designate Historic-Cultural Monuments that recognize African American history and culture; expand and refine the Los Angeles African American History of Los Angeles Context Statement; and engage in meaningful dialogue with neighborhoods to create better cultural heritage preservation strategies that celebrate their culture and cultural practices such as asset mapping and tourism.
