On Friday, September 6th at 5:30pm, Troop 349 will meet at the Municipal Parking Lot on Bellmeade Ave for our annual Canoe Trip and Campout. We are adding Friday night to the campout this year to give more opportunity to meet the requirements for the Camping Merit Badge (20 nights camping in a tent or under the stars).
The Troop will provide breakfast for Saturday and Sunday. The Scouts will do Patrol cooking on Saturday night.
Make sure to pack sunscreen, a hat, bathing suit and shoes that can get wet. Plan on bringing a towel, snack for Friday night, bag lunch for Saturday and refillable water bottle. Activities will be planned for the day by our leadership team.
Parents will pick up their scouts on Sunday, September 8th at Short Beach Pavilion at 9:30am
Please submit this form for each person attending the Nissequogue River Canoe trip and camp out. The cost per person is $35, or $15 if you have your own kayak/canoe or are not joining us for canoeing. Venmo ID for payment is @BSA349Smithtown.
Parents are encouraged to join us for the day at $20 for the canoe fee. Scouts that do not have a recent BSA swim test need adult supervision in the canoes, the extra help will be greatly appreciated! BSA Policy requires all adults camping with us to be registered with the troop. We need volunteers for campouts this year. Please reach out to Mr. Lasher asap to get registered if you can help at this campout or anytime during this school year.
Please print, complete and bring this waiver with you. http://www.canoerentals.com/PDF/LiabilityRelease.pdf
Also, the new parking pass rules are in effect at Town Facilities. If you are a town resident and show them your driver’s license you will probably be OK for drop off/pick up. If you plan on parking for a period of time it is advised to get a parking pass as the Park Rangers have been issuing tickets to vehicles without permits. Non-residents will pay a daily use fee to park.
How do I get a resident parking permit for the town parks and beaches?
Residents of Smithtown can request a parking permit online at www.tocite.net/smithtownny/portal by creating an account and uploading a photocopy of their vehicle registration. Once the request is approved by the town clerk’s office, the permit will be sent to residents via mail. Residents may also request a parking permit at the Town Clerk’s Office (located at Town Hall: 99 W. Main Street, Smithtown, NY 11787) by presenting a driver’s license and vehicle registration issued to a Town of Smithtown address.
