2021 Business Volunteer of the Year Nomination Form
NOMINATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 12, AT 5 PM

The Montgomery Serves Awards, our county’s highest honor for volunteerism, annually recognize individuals, businesses, and groups that have demonstrated remarkable commitment to direct volunteer service in our community.

Use this form to nominate a business or corporation for the 2021 Business Volunteer of the Year Award. Visit www.montgomerycountymd.gov/volunteercenter/awards/ for links to nomination forms for all other categories.

Before completing this nomination form, please review the following guidelines:

   • A Montgomery Serves Awards selection panel will review and select winners that have demonstrated commitment and dedication to direct volunteer service in each award category.
   • Nominations will be evaluated based on volunteer service performed in 2020 (or throughout the nominee’s lifetime for the Neal Potter Path of Achievement Award) as detailed in the nomination narrative. The narrative is limited to 1,000 words.
   • Nominees must either live, work, or serve in Montgomery County.
   • Nominees should not be nominated for their financial contributions.
   • Past winners are ineligible to win in the same category.
   • Nominators will be notified of their nominees’ status once all honorees have been selected.
   • Nominations must use the appropriate nomination forms and be submitted online no later than Friday, March 12, 2021.

This narrative will be the only information used to select recipients of the 2021 Montgomery Serves Awards. Reviewers will not consider supplemental materials such as links to websites, newspaper clippings, or letters of support; however, details from such sources may be included within the 1,000-word limit of the narrative.
 
Nominators should focus on submitting a well-written and thorough narrative of 1,000 words or less, written in paragraph form (not a bulleted list) and incorporating the following information:
   • Brief biographical information for individual nominees or historical information for groups and businesses
   • Where and when the nominee began volunteering
   • Any motivating factors for the nominee’s service
   • Specific volunteer projects or duties the nominee performed in 2020
   • Number of hours and period of time in which the nominee volunteered in 2020
   • For nominees who volunteered with more than one organization, details about service provided to each organization
   • Why the nominee’s volunteer service should be considered extraordinary
   • Any special or unique stories about the nominee’s service
   • Any other awards or recognition the nominee has received
   • As appropriate, quotes from supervisors or colleagues or excerpts from sources such as newspaper articles

The Montgomery County Volunteer Center may use this narrative in whole or part in publicity and awards event materials.
