Swimming Ability Criteria
If the swimmer has followed a formal training programme they must have completed ASA stage 7 or Transition 1 (Tribe swim programme) or STA Angelfish 3 and must be able to:
• Swim a minimum of 50m using a single recognisable stroke (not switching strokes) and without stopping.
• Tread water for at least 60 seconds without their head going under and without holding on to the side of the pool or the lane rope.
• Get in and out of the pool without assistance, using the side or end wall.
• Jump into the pool confidently from the raised pool end (not the block) with and without their head going under.
• Roll from their front onto their back safely and float without their head going under.

OR if the swimmer does not hold formal swimming levels then they must be able to:

• Swim a minimum of 100m using a single recognisable stroke (not switching strokes) and without stopping.
• Tread water for at least two minutes without their head going under and without holding on to the side of the pool or the lane rope.
• Get in and out of the pool without assistance, using the side or end wall.
• Jump into the pool confidently from the raised pool end (not the block) with and without their head going under.
• Roll from their front onto their back safely and float without their head going under.

OR for older swimmers going directly to the club, whilst it is preferable that they can complete the above, this is not a requirement as long as they are confident in deep water and can swim 50m continuously.
I confirm that the swimmer fulfils the above criteria. I understand that this is necessary for the safety of the swimmer to use the deep 50m pool and ensures they benefit from the training offered. *
