Designing Effective Writing Assignments & Giving Feedback/Grading in Moodle
The Center for Writing Excellence and Teaching Learning Technologies is pairing up for a winter term workshop focused on writing. If you’re planning to assign writing this winter or spring and would like to use Moodle to streamline your feedback/grading process, please consider joining us.

When: Tue. Jan. 9, 11:45-1:00pm
Where: Oaks Commons 207; lunch provided for those who register.

Dr. Paula Rosinski will give a brief review/refresher on designing effective writing assignments (so we’ll discuss the importance of backwards design, the major components of an effective assignment, and designing evaluation criteria). Sara Vanderpool from TLT will discuss how the recent upgrade to Moodle now allows instructors to give feedback to student writing submitted to Moodle (within the interface – so no downloading required) and makes grading more efficient with the evaluation criteria side-by-side with the student text.
