WHAT IS WATER BAPTISM?Water baptism is a symbol of what happened when Jesus died on the cross for our sins and we accepted Him as our Lord and Savior. Galatians 2:20 says it best:
"For I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me." (Galatians 2:20 NIV) So, in a nutshell, baptisms are an outward expression of an inward commitment. We are leaving our old lives, sins, issues, and habits beneath the water. And as we rise above that water, we are living in Christ as He is alive in us!
