Women Latinists 2024: Literature Course in Florence

Join us for a week in Florence to explore the history of women’s writing in Latin from antiquity up to the early modern period in Italy. The aim of this course is to introduce students to a wide range of little-known sources from letters to love poetry, epitaphs to epics! It consists of thematic seminars delivered by specialists, selected outings and hands-on workshops on texts in print and manuscript form.

With a strong focus on primary sources provided in Latin and English translation, you will strengthen your independent research skills, discover new authors and engage with themes that emerge over 1,500 years of women’s writing and its reception.
