Site Council Application
The Washburn High School Site Council recruits new members every school year. Membership is open until seats are filled.

WHAT IS THE SITE COUNCIL?
The Site Council is a group of staff, parents, students, and community members who provide support and
advice to the Washburn High School administrative team and represent the Washburn community at school
events. The Site Council is responsible for working on behalf of Washburn’s common good and for all students.

WHO CAN SERVE ON THE SITE COUNCIL?
Any parent, student, staff member, or community member who supports the mission and vision of Washburn
High School is eligible to serve. The Site Council seeks members with diverse backgrounds, cultures and
interests. We strive to keep a balance of members based on feeder school, ethnic backgrounds, and grades of
students represented. Overall membership is limited based on our by-laws.

WHEN DOES THE SITE COUNCIL MEET & WHAT IS THE TIME COMMITMENT?
The Site Council meets monthly at Washburn on the 2nd Thursday of each month during the school year
(September-May) from 4:30-6:00pm. Meeting times are subject to change based on the group’s needs.

Time commitment:
- Attend monthly meetings (9-10 meetings depending on budget planning)
- Volunteer at least two school wide events during the school year as a representative of Site Council for
the purpose of connecting with the greater WHS community and promoting the work of Site Council

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER OF THE SITE COUNCIL?
If you would like to join the Washburn Site Council, please fill out the recruitment form on the next page.
Please consider carefully if you can commit to attending the monthly Site Council meeting and if you
are open to fulfilling a 2 year term. We do prioritize creating a membership that represents our study body.

HOW DOES THE SELECTION PROCESS WORK?
Members will be selected by a nominating committee made up of Washburn’s Principal and two current Site Council members. Keep in mind we strive to have a diverse membership including trying to balance members from our different feeder schools. New members will begin serving in the Fall of each school year.
