The program runs during the day (9am - 4.30pm) from Monday to Friday 15-19 July at Madley Hall, Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide, with a showcase of original songs written by our campers presented on 20 July at Adelaide Unibar from 1pm-3pm. While we refer to the program as a camp, there is no actual sleeping over - campers attend during the day and will need to be picked up at the end of the day.
NOTE: Camper participation in the Saturday showcase is a mandatory part of attendance. As campers will depend on their bandmates to be there at rehearsals, please make sure the camper will be able to attend the whole week of camp.
Cost: $450 (scholarships and half scholarships are available on a needs basis, please contact us to discuss! We don't want anyone to miss out on the basis of finance). Payment is not required on completion of this form - if your camper's application is successful payment will be arranged at that time.
What to bring: Lunch (unfortunately we cannot provide refrigeration or reheating) and a water bottle, and any medications or other stuff you need.
What we will provide: Incredible workshops, super interesting presentations, instrument lessons, lunchtime concerts, band practice, role models and mentors, and snacks for morning and afternoon tea. Oh and we provide the instruments too!
The first part of the application form will be for you, our camper, to fill out - and the second part needs to be filled out by your caregiver/parent/guardian.
Applications close Friday 21 June 2019.
We have a limited number of places available so may not be able to offer a place to everyone that applies, but we will try our best to accommodate everyone! Offers will be provided via email, so make sure the email address you provide is one that will be checked regularly.
We expect a high volume of emails and applications during this time. Please remember we are a volunteer organisation with other commitments and have limited capacity to respond. We appreciate your patience and will get back to you as soon as possible!
Girls Rock! Adelaide strives to be an inclusive organisation, and we have strong values that we want everyone at camp to share. We welcome and respect everyone regardless of background, ethnicity, language, disability, sexual orientation, sexual preference, age, body shape, or level of musical ability. We want to provide a safe, supportive space for everyone (adults and young people!) and hope that this increases confidence, empowerment and self-esteem for everybody.
We do not tolerate discrimination of any kind including (but not limited to) homophobia, transphobia, racism, or sexism. We want everyone to have a great time on the program, and want everyone to feel welcome and included!
