MISL post-doc search
MISL (http://misl.bio) is a highly interdisciplinary lab working on the intersection of biotech and computer science. Some of our focus include DNA data storage, DNA-based image search, nanopore sensing, and molecular design for synbio and molecular diagnostics. We are looking for a post-doc to work on the ML side of our work! Some of the ideas we are exploring include:
• Generative models for DNA and protein design for information search, encoding and diagnostics
• Using RNNs (and/or more modern architectures :)) on nanopore sensing data (single molecule sensors!)
• Using graph neural networks for molecular interaction analysis
• Microscopy imaging analysis
• Fluidics protocol planning

Key Responsibilities:
• Work on data analysis and machine learning solutions that address high-throughput biomolecular data (eg. next-gen sequencing data, nanopore sensor time series data)
• Implement, design and invent new approaches and algorithms that will fundamentally change the way we extract knowledge and insight from these data
• Process, analyze, interpret, and visualize high volumes of data for the development and validation of approaches
• Help mentor computer scientists at the graduate and undergraduate levels
• Monitor and evaluate analytical aspects of new and emerging technologies

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale biological ‘omics and high throughput data analysis, machine learning, and deep learning in particular
• Skilled in programming and scripting language(s) for data analysis
• Experience with deep learning libraries (e.g. Pytorch, Tensorflow)
• Experience in algorithm generation and/or computational method implementation
• Significant scientific understanding of molecular biology and genomics
