The program is split up into two separate age groups:- Prep: ages 3-13- Varsity: ages 14-22 (high school age)
We currently have a Varsity team called the Sportable Spokes, who compete in the Varsity division of the National Wheelchair Basketball Association (NWBA). The Spokes practice weekly throughout the season (September to April) and regularly during the off-season (May to August). For competition, the Spokes travel to compete in tournaments against other teams regionally and nationally.
Our goal is to have both a Prep team and a Varsity team by the start of the 2019-2020 season. We already have some athletes participating at the Prep age, but we need more players to form a team. We also need more Varsity age players, as we have multiple players graduating high school after the 2018-2019 season. Sportable can provide equipment for any athletes that do not currently have their own yet.
The physical and social benefits of youth involvement in team sports are endless! Please fill out this interest form if you are interested in signing your child up for Sportable's youth wheelchair basketball program in 2019.
