Dear Kickstarter leadership,
We, the undersigned members of the Creator Advisory Committee and broader Kickstarter creator community, stand in solidarity with the rank-and-file members of Kickstarter United/OPEIU Local 153. We urge you to meet their demand for a livable salary floor and to codify the existing 32-hour/4-day workweek or provide compensation for the additional hours of work.
We are proud to be members of the Kickstarter creator community, and we acknowledge that the union workers at Kickstarter are the beating heart of the platform.
The union workers make Kickstarter the leading crowdfunding platform for creators from around the world.
The union workers support us, guide us, and treat us with warmth and empathy.
The union workers care about us – regardless of the size of our project or our level of experience – just as much as they do the community and the Kickstarter platform itself.
We ask that you negotiate with the Kickstarter United/OPEIU Local 153 bargaining committee in good faith and come to a mutually beneficial agreement. With the experience and support of the union workers, our jobs as creators is easier and we are better positioned to utilize the Kickstarter platform to its fullest potential.
Signed,
