Shone Farm, Santa Rosa Junior College’s educational farm in Forestville, CA, offers 6 intermediate growers an opportunity to farm 1/2-acre apiece, producing for sale to our 100-member CSA, restaurant customers and Culinary Program at the college. This is a revenue-sharing opportunity for those who are working towards establishing their own farming operation and want the experience of running all aspects of an enterprise for themselves. You will have the chance to grow for established markets within a supportive environment with access to mentorship and shared resources like equipment, irrigation infrastructure, etc. You will also be able to establish new sales channels for your products, including operating a farmers market booth. Participation in the Independent Ag Enterprise Program requires: • Minimum of 2 FULL seasons of experience growing mixed vegetables in a commercial environment. • Availability of 20 hours/week (on average) to plant, maintain and harvest your parcel. • Willingness to grow in coordination with our 4-year crop rotation • Registration in Santa Rosa Junior College’s Ag 98 (Independent Study) and Ag 56 (Ag Enterprise) courses - a cost of approximately $400. (These courses do not have any classroom component, but simply provide the administrative framework for IAEP participation.) This program begins in April, and applications are being reviewed now. To express interest in the program, fill out the information below and we will contact you shortly.
