The 2019 Statera National Conference (StateraConIV) will feature workshops, breakout sessions, plenaries, and many networking opportunities to further Statera's mission of taking positive action to bring women into full and equal participation in the American Theatre. StateraArts holds that gender balance in the theatre means telling stories by and for the full scope of humanity, and is the pathway to a thriving and relevant theatre of the future that benefits us all.
We invite proposals that:
- Reflect the diversity of woman-identified and non-binary theatre professionals- Stimulate and provoke discussion about gender parity issues- Engage and support gender allies in the parity movement - Target specific sub-groups such as students, new to the industry, mid-career, or seasoned professionals- Inspire new paths of personal and creative expression- Explore specific issues important to women in theatre- Engage participants in topics regarding work-life balance, and other issues relating to personal fulfillment - Give strategies and/or action items that participants can apply to their own creative experiences- Engage creatives with new ideas beyond institutional or educational experiences
Sessions should fit within a 75 minute time frame.
The overall schedule of events will include a diverse array of presenters and perspectives, including those with different specialties, areas of expertise, levels of experience, and a variety of institutional and organizational types. This application is open to all individuals: all gender identities, all races and ethnicities, all religions and creeds, countries of origin, all immigrants and refugees, all abilities and disabilities, and all sexual orientations. Everyone is encouraged to apply.
Proposals are due by May 1, 2019, and notifications will be made June 1, 2018.
While StateraCon presenters are not compensated monetarily for participation, an official letter of invitation will be provided to support your efforts in grant-seeking. StateraArts is offering a limited number of support grants. Please apply for those at www.stateraarts.org/conference-grant-application.
